The Girl Scouts of Western Washington were reportedly “thrilled” to rake in a $100,000 donation earlier this year, but then they found out that the gift came with a stipulation: The donor wanted a promise that the donation would not be used in support of transgender girls.
In response to the donor’s request, the Girl Scouts decided to return the donation, every bit of it. Megan Ferland, CEO of Girls Scouts of Western Washington, then told the Seattle Metropolitan magazine that “Girl Scouts is for every girl” and all girls “should have the opportunity to be a Girl Scout” if they want to.

In order to recoup the funds they previously thought they had, the Girl Scouts of Western Washington have setup an online fundraising campaign on Indiegogo which, in one day, has already has over $128,000 from over 2,600 donators who quite obviously agree with the Girl Scouts of Western Washington’s inclination to accept and support transgender girls.
The fundraiser still has 29 days left to reach the $100,000 goal it exceeded in less than 24 hours. The fundraiser’s page on Indiegogo implores potential donators to help “raise back the $100,000 a donor asked” the group to return because they accept transgender girls.
