Officials Lift Quarantine, Clear Dozens Of Ebola

Quarantine Lifted

Dallas health officials say the first group of people quarantined because of their close contact with Thomas Eric Duncan have shown no signs of the Ebola virus. The announcement comes as the three-week monitoring period expires on Sunday. Duncan died of the disease on Oct 8.

Of the 48 people quarantined, none have shown any symptoms. Duncan’s fiance, Louise Troh, her 13-year-old son and two other relatives, were among those quarantined, ABC reported. They remained quarantined in an undisclosed location in Dallas.

Dallas County Administrator Clay Jenkins said it is important to monitor and isolate people exposed to the an Ebola-infected patient within the first 21 days, whether they show symptoms of the disease.

“After 21 days of being on this watch list, there is zero chance that any of those young men or Louise carry the Ebola virus,” Jenkins said. “They need love and compassion and acceptance.”

In a statement, Troh said they are still mourning the death of Duncan and the turn of events that caused his death, NBC News reported.

“We continue to mourn his loss and grieve the circumstances that led to his death, just at the time we thought we were facing a happy future together,” she said.

However, the family remains positive that no one else in their family has been infected by the deadly virus, which has already killed about 4,000 and is expected to rise as it continue to ravage West Africa.

“We are so happy this is coming to an end, and we are so grateful that none of us has shown any sign of illness,” Troh said.

We thank all people of kindness who have prayed for us during this time, and we join your prayers now for others who are suffering too. We have lost so much, but we have our lives and we have our faith in God, which always gives us hope,
