American stand-up comedian Micah Sierra “Katt” Williams was arrested on Monday, February 29, for allegedly punching an attendant at a pool supply store in Gainesville, Georgia – a city 55 miles away from Atlanta.

According to a report by Fox News, Williams got into an argument with the pool store employee, and ended up throwing a pair of goggles at him, before going behind the counter to punch him. He was in the store with two women. Sgt. Kevin Holbrook, who spoke on behalf of the Gainesville Police Department, said that the police officers on the scene found Williams who looked ready to be arrested on the ground “with his hands behind his back”.

Williams was officially booked at 1:34 pm on a misdemeanor battery charge. According to an email sent by County sheriff’s Deputy Nicole Bailes, he was being held on a $5,000 bond.

CNN also reported on the incident, confirming that Williams was taken to jail and held on a battery charge for which his bond was set at $5,000.

In addition to being a comedian, the 44-year-old Williams is also an actor, rapper and singer who has appeared in several seasons of Wild ‘n Out. His film career includes several comedies, including Friday After Next. He also has music albums out including It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin’ and American Bad Boy (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack).

Williams’ publicist Janice Lee was not immediately available to respond to phone and email messages regarding the incident.
