Final Fantasy XV Demo Released For Xbox And PlayStation [Video]

Gamers awaiting the release of Final Fantasy XV don’t have to wait until the end of September for a chance to play the latest installment in the Final Fantasy series, as a new “Platinum Demo” of the game has been released.

The new demo, which Square Enix is calling the Final Fantasy XV Platinum Demo, is available for download from the PlayStation Store as well as the Xbox Marketplace. It’s designed to run on both Microsoft’s as well as Sony’s latest console systems, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

This time around, the story focuses on Noctis, a young boy, and Carbuncle, which the game’s developers describe as “his magical guide” to the “fragmented dreamscape” in which the game is set. Adding to this intriguing setting, the developers elaborate in referencing the setting as “the fantastical world” of Noctis’s dreams.

The Verge reports that the demo allows players the opportunity to explore aspects of the game that will not be included in the main game.

For those wondering just how much it’s going to cost them to get a taste of what the upcoming Final Fantasy entails, there is no cost as the new demo is free to download.

This latest demo, the “Platinum” version as it’s being called, is not the first demo to be released for FF XV. The first demo, which was only available to those who purchased the upgraded console port of the PlayStation Portable game Final Fantasy Type-0, was not nearly as accessible to interested gamers due to the limited nature of its release. Which is why this newly released demo, which debut on March 30, is an excellent opportunity for curious gamers to catch a glimpse of what the upcoming game holds in store for them. But it’s worth noting that while the new demo offers gamers a chance to experience aspects of the upcoming game, its experience is unique as its not actually derived from the full game scheduled to hit shelves later this year.

All the same, the new demo provides gamers with an opportunity to get an idea of how aspects such as combat will play out in the main game once it’s released.
