World Of Warcraft 10-Year Veterans To Get Orc Statue From Blizzard

In a show of appreciation to its most dedicated fans, Blizzard Entertainment send some players who have been World of Warcraft subscribers for ten years an orc statue in the mail.

A comment attributed to Blizzard on the MMO Champion forums said that the publisher will send a “physical gift” to players who have been with the game since the beginning. While the message did not say what the gift would be, Battle.net user Smitti posted an image of a detailed statue of an Orc on a wolf.

Blizzard said that to be eligible, players must have created their World of Warcraft account within two months of the game’s launch in America or Europe. Eligible players should have received an email at the address attached to their Battle.net account, according to Gamespot. It seems that players who had their account lapse even once during the ten years are not eligible.

The orc statue is a replica of a 12-foot statue outside Blizzard’s headquarters in Irvine, California, with a message to players on the bottom.

The orc statue is a constant presence in our life at Blizzard Entertainment. It’s where we meet to talk, to eat, to celebrate. As we celebrate ten years of World of Warcraft, we present this token of appreciation to you, stalwart adventurer. Thank you for being a constant presence in our lives as we adventure together.

Also this week, players discovered a new Veteran Edition in the World of Warcraft 6.1 patch, which is a free-to-play mode similar to the trial Starter Edition for players with accounts. The 6.1 patch reverts lapsed accounts into a Starter Edition mode with many of the same restrictions, including a level cap of 20 and a money cap of 20 gold. Veteran Edition accounts will also have restricted communication, with no ability to whisper to characters not on the player’s friends list or invite players to groups, according to CNET.
