Steven Rodriguez, better known as A$AP Yams has passed away at the young age of 26 years old. According to a report by Rolling Stone on Jan. 18, there is no cause of death yet. Although A$AP had a drug problem in the past, he did enter a drug rehab facility in July of 2014. His drugs of choice included Codeine and Xanax and although it was said that he was clean from these two drugs, his last tweet may have confirmed his use of the drugs once again. Since one of his drugs of choice was codeine, he may have been using again. However, this does not mean that this is what he died from since his cause of death right now is still unknown.
Many fellow rappers and friends took to social media to express their condolences about the young rappers death.
RCA Records wrote a statement regarding the early death. It stated:
All of us at RCA Records are shocked and saddened to hear of the death of A$AP Yams. As one of the creative forces behind A$AP Worldwide, Yams’ vision, humor and dedication to the members of A$AP Mob will always be remembered. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
According to the Independent, A$AP Mob’s main Twitter account posted the tweet at 1:14 pm confirming the young rapper’s death.

A$AP Yams was also known as Yamborghini. Not only was he a rapper, he was also a blogger who was building an online reputation as a tastemaker. Yams also secured the huge record deal and helped the careers of fellow rappers, A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg in 2013.
A$AP Yams will never be forgotten in the rapping community.
