Florida Woman Gives Birth To 14 Pound Baby

A woman in Florida has given birth to the largest baby born so far in the state at 14 pounds and one ounce. She didn’t even know she was pregnant until her third trimester, about 35 weeks along, when she gained an unexpected amount of weight and went to see her doctor. According to the Toledo Blade on Feb. 7, the mother of now three children, Maxxzandra Ford, thought she was having twins when she finally found out she was pregnant. However, Ford has given birth to not only the heaviest baby at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital in Tampa on Jan. 29 but he is also the biggest baby to be born in the state of Florida.

After 18 hours of labor, she gave birth naturally to Avery Denton. Although he is in the neonatal care unit at the hospital currently, doctors say he should be able to go home soon.

Ford is also the mother of a 1-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter. According to the New York Daily News. Although baby Avery is the biggest baby to be born at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital and the biggest one in the state of Florida, the state of Texas can still claim the largest baby who weighed in at 16 pounds. Janet Johnson claims this big bundle of joy in Texas in 2011 who the hospital nicknamed Moose because of how big he was.

However, Avery is still one of a kind in Florida and is a happy and healthy baby despite being in the neonatal care unit until he is released from the hospital soon. Ford told reporters that she ‘just melted’ when she got to hold baby Avery.
