Hilary Duff has initiated divorce proceedings by filing for divorce after her reports of her husband Mike Comrie’s wild night in Beverly Hills and sources close to the couple have told TMZ that it’s no coincidence Duff is filing her documents after the Daily Mail reported on Mike’s drunken propositioning of women at a Beverly Hills steakhouse.
The young starlet has hired attorney Laura Wasser, citing the usual irreconcilable differences as her reason for divorce.
Duff, who dated Aaron Carter when the two were teenagers, lists the date the two separated as January of 2013.
In court documents, Hilary has requested that she’s appointed primary physical custody of their 2-year-old son, Luca, who turns 3-years-old next month.
If Hilary is to have her way in the divorce proceedings, Mike will retain visitation rights. Although, sources connected to the couple have indicated that she’s concerned his drinking and partying could have an adverse affect on their child.
In regards to the prenuptial agreement that the couple has, TMZ reports that Hilary wants her earnings and things to remain hers.
Upon their split, Hilary’s other, Susan, was quoted as having said that the two were “better friends than a married couple.”
The singer-actress’ rep said in a statement at the time of their breakup that the two “remain best friends” and that split was amicable.
They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other’s lives (…) They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time.
The two married in California’s sunny Santa Barbara on August 14, 2010. Comrie, a journeyman professional hockey player from Alberta, signed with the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins shortly after the two tied the not, but plagued by injuries, he was ultimately retired from the NHL following his third hip surgery.
