Gearbox Software Unveils Battleborn Trailer, Release Date, Features

Gearbox Software, the independent American video game developer behind the Borderlands franchise, has released the official trailer of their upcoming title Battleborn, which is scheduled to be released this winter.

The game developer also revealed the game’s key features, modes and supported platforms in the trailer’s description on YouTube. As for platforms, the game is set to run on the PS4, Xbox One and the PC.

As for playable characters, there are 25 different heroes to choose from. Each playable character has its “own personality” which is “equipped with unique weapons and powers” according to the YouTube video’s description.

The unique heroes to choose from wield an array of offensive powers including massive machine guns, swords and powerful spells.

As for a storyline, this new first-person shooter entails a universe on the brink of extinction in which “only the most powerful Battleborn can stop it.”

The game modes include a story mode as well as a competitive multiplayer experience. In the story mode, players can choose to fight solo or cooperatively (co-op) with friends in the game’s quest to save the universe’s last star from a mysterious evil bent on its destruction.

In the online competitive multiplayer mode, players engage in team-based matches in which teams of five go up against one another in head to head combat. In this mode, there are three unique game modes, which are as follows:

  • Incursion
  • Devastation
  • Meltdown

Like many video games these days, players earn experience points while playing, resulting in level-ups in rank. Experience points (XP) is gained across all of the game’s different modes.

In other video game coverage here at Immortal News, Bethesda Softworks announced the latest in the Fallout franchise, Fallout 4. The announcement, which came ahead of E3, was also accompanied by the release of the game’s official trailer.
