Bristol Palin, the 25-year-old daughter of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, has given birth to a second child.
The baby, who is named Sailor Grace, was born on Wednesday.
Palin, who broke news of her second child via Instagram on Thursday, advocated on behalf of abstinence as a paid spokeswoman following her first child out of wedlock, Tripp. CBS News reports that Grace marks her second child out of wedlock.
Grace’s father has not been disclosed to the public. Palin, whose mother resigned as the Governor of Alaska in 2009, shared a message from her mother on her Patheos.com blog which read:
Oh, perfect love! The best gift ever! Thank you, Bristol, for your strength and good heart and your love of life. The most important people in Bristol’s life were there to witness the miracle of Sailor Grace Palin’s arrival last night. Thank you for sharing the miracle with Piper, Marina, and me, Bri! And we thank Todd for taking care of the rest of the family during this most precious beginning of a great new chapter!
She referred to the message from her mother, Sarah Palin, as a “sweet note” from her mom. After sharing news of the birth on Instagram, Bristol shared a picture of Grace with her firstborn – Tripp, who was born in December of 2008.

She and Tripp’s father, Levi Johnston, eventually ended their relationship before marrying.
More recently, she found herself engaged to Dakota Meyer, a recipient of the Medal of Honor, but the wedding–which was scheduled to take place earlier this year–was called off just a matter of days before it was to be held.
