Monica Lewinsky: On A Mission To End Cyberbullying

Monica Lewinsky speaks out about how she was humiliated all over the Internet years ago during the affair she had with then President Bill Clinton. According to a report posted by Fox News, which was published on Oct. 22, Lewinsky now has a mission to end all cyber bullying.

Lewinsky is all over the TV and Internet speaking about how she was humiliated online when she had the affair with the former president. During her speech on Monday, she said,

I would go online, read in a paper or see on TV people referring to me as: tramp, slut, whore, tart, bimbo, floozy, even spy… Overnight, I went from being a completely private figure to a publicly humiliated one. I was Patient Zero.

She also stated about all of the humiliating tweets and posts online about her that she felt shame and almost disintegrated.

As she remembers the past about how the cyber bullying almost destroyed her self-esteem, she joined Twitter on Monday.  She also spoke out back in May and finally broke her silence about the affair when she stated in ‘Vanity Fair,’

It’s time to burn the beret and bury the blue dress.

Because of what she went through with the cyber bullying, she now works on behalf of the victims of online harassment and humiliation.

She also said that she deeply regretted having an affair with her boss, the president at the time. She said,

I fell in love with my boss. In a 22-year-old sort of way, it happens. But my boss was the president of the United States. That probably happens less often.

Although Lewinsky remembers there was no Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram back then during the affair, however, there were entertainment, news, and gossip websites where people would ridicule her for what she did. She said The New York Post talked about her on page six of the newspaper calling her the ‘Portly Pepperpot.’ Because of this, she was shattered.

What do you think about her speaking out about the affair and vowing to put an end to cyber bullying? Do you think she will actually succeed? Let everyone know your thoughts in the comment section below. Don’t be shy! Speak your mind! After all, if Monica Lewinsky can speak out, anyone can!
