Is Xbox Live Down?

Xbox One Controller And Games

If you’re experiencing problems connecting to the Xbox Live network, you’re not the only one.

The Xbox Live network is, as of February 22 at approximately 6:30 p.m. (ET), experiencing technical difficulties affecting both the Xbox One and the Xbox on other devices.

At least some users attempting to connect to the service will prove unsuccessful in their attempts, as according to Xbox’s “Live Status” webpage, both “Purchase and Content Usage” as well as “Xbox Live Core Services” are currently down.

Those attempting to troubleshoot this issue by checking their own network connection may see a message indicating that its not their network, but the Xbox service itself that is having difficulties.

Your network is good, but there are some Xbox service issues

The message, which can be seen in part above, apologizes to those running into the issue while noting that the problem is on their side of the equation.

Sorry, there’s a problem on our side

According to the Xbox Live Status page, while two of the main services are down at this time, three are not. The three apparently unaffected aspects include:

  • Website
  • TV, Music and Video
  • Social and Gaming

UPDATE: “TV, Music and Video” is also down, affecting Netflix patrons using their consoles to access the company’s streaming video content.

In its latest update to Xbox members, the company announced that it’s not only “aware” of the Purchase and Content Usage issue, but “working hard” on a resolution.

We’re aware of the issue and our team is working hard to fix things as quickly as possible. Thanks for your patience! We’ll update you as soon as we have more information.

As for the Xbox Live Core Services, the company acknowledged that some users might experience sign-in difficulties, but offered reassurance in the following statement:

We want you to know our top engineers are on the case and are working toward a fix.

Those experiencing issues today may not be all that surprised, as the service has been anything but stable in recent days. On February 21, the company acknowledged issues signing in to Xbox Live. Later the same day, the company indicated that previous issues with Parties and Sign-ins had been resolved.

One day prior, on February 20, the company acknowledged issues with not only sign-ins but social and gaming as well.

Going back to February 17, again the company noted sign-in, parties and friends issues on the Xbox One. And just a day before that, the company claimed in a tweet that prior sign-in issues had been “resolved!”

As if that wasn’t enough, the company noted on February 15 that its teams were investigating “some users having troubles with Xbox Live.”

But the recent service issues didn’t start there, as just one day earlier, on the 14th, the company noted that its teams were “investigating Social and Gaming issues on Xbox One.”

In other gaming coverage here at Immortal News, the NPD Group has released its list of the top selling video games of 2015 and you might be surprised by the results, which you can see here.

What do you think is behind all of the recent issues with the Xbox Live service?
