Over the years, Beyonce Knowles and Jay Z have faced constant speculation about the breakdown of their marriage. It seems Beyonce’s new surprise album Lemonade has finally addressed the couple’s alleged martial problems. A few years ago, many thought it was impossible that the singers would ever find peace. They were barely talking, and Beyonce’s sister Solange was seen punching Jay Z in an elevator via leaked footage.

E News reports that the marital problems were real, stating that a source close to them said the couple ‘had help to get them through’ their troubled time.

They had been having problems for years. There was a constant commitment issue between them and in the end they were barely speaking. Beyoncé didn’t fully trust Jay and it was hard for her to get past that. They went to a lot of counseling and have been working on their issues ever since. They had help to get them through it.

According to the report, it seems the hatchet is now buried, and Jay Z is happy with the release of the new album, because he acknowledges how much money it’s going to make. The source said, ‘they are both really smart and they both saw dollar signs.’

Jay was involved in the creation of Lemonade and knew every song Bey was going to release. He knew the lyrics; he knew the implications. He had to approve the songs before release. Jay is a very smart businessman…Bottom line is that they are both really smart and they both saw dollar signs.

Rolling Stone meanwhile has deemed that this new album could help reclaim the place black female artists have in the history of rock music. Beyonce, who has flirted with the genre in the past, singing with Coldplay and covering Kings of Leon live, has now fully embraced it with the release of Lemonade. Remembering how influential black women have been in the formation of rock as a genre, Beyonce’s new track ‘“Don’t Hurt Yourself” featuring Jack White can even be listened to keeping in mind its cultural implications – completely removed from her relationship with Jay Z.
