Black Friday Is Well Underway

Although many people may actually wait until the day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday to start their Christmas shopping, since many of the retailers have already started their sales a week ahead of schedule, some may even start their Christmas shopping the day of Thanksgiving. This is because many sales are already going on. However, according to a report posted by Time which was posted on Nov. 24, this doesn’t seem fair to those who want to take Thanksgiving Day off from retail stores like Wal-Mart. It just means the stores will even be busy on the holiday itself with no relief to the workers. It also means that some people may decide to go out and take advantage of these early sales and leave the dinner table with their family

According to a report posted by Forbes, it is estimated that three quarters of the people who did their early Christmas shopping last year on Thanksgiving Day will do so again this year. It is not the fact that the retail stores want them too, it is the fact that the shoppers want to go shopping right after dinner. Doesn’t this ruin the meaning of the holiday? After all, this is Thanksgiving when everyone is supposed to sit down together and not only spend dinner together but spend the whole day together.

It’s bad enough that we have to have a holiday just to spend time with our family and now with the retail stores providing their discounts early, many people will leave the dinner table right after they are done eating and go shopping just to pick those hot items up at the best possible prices.

What do you think about this? Do you think the stores should have placed their items on discount already? Will you be shopping on Thanksgiving Day just to ensure you get to save some money? Or, will you wait until Black Friday?
