Philadelphia Shooting Spree Suspect Bradley Stone Found Dead

The search for the Pennsylvania man suspected of killing six family members and injuring his son ended on Tuesday when he was found dead in the woods.

Bradley William Stone’s body was discovered about a half-mile from his home in Pennsburg, 30 miles northwest of Philadelphia. The former Marine sergeant had self-inflicted stab wounds and a knife was found nearby, according to Newsday.

Stone began a 90-minute killing rampage on Monday morning at three homes in nearby towns. He broke down the back doors of the first two homes and smashed his ex-wife’s sliding glass door with a propane tank.

Stone’s ex-wife, 33-year-old Nicole Stone, was found shot in the face in her apartment after a neighbor heard glass breaking and saw Stone fleeing with their two young daughters, who were later found safe, according to the New York Times.

Also among the dead were Nicole Stone’s mother, grandmother, sister, brother-in-law, and 14-year-old niece. A 17-year-old nephew suffered knife wounds to the hands and head. He was listed in “very serious” condition.

There is no excuse. There is no valid explanation. There is no justification for snuffing out these six innocent lives. This is just a horrific tragedy that our community has had to endure, and we’re really numbed by what we’ve had to go through the past couple of days.

The adults were all shot and the teenagers were slashed with a knife and suffered blows to their heads.

Stone and his ex-wife had been in a bitter custody battle since she filed for divorce in 2009. On December 9, Stone was denied an emergeny request for custody. Neighbors said that Nicole feared for her life and occasionally asked maintenance staff in the complex to check her apartment before she went inside, according to Fox News.
