Dustin Diamond Out Of Jail: Court Date Set

Dustin Diamond, or better known as Samuel ‘Screech’ Powers from the early 90s sitcom, ‘Saved by the Bell,’ has been released from a Wisconsin jail after he posted $10,000 bail. According to a report by ABC News on Dec. 29, Diamond and his fiancée, Amanda Schutz, were in a Wisconsin bar when the fiancée was apparently manhandled by a few men. Once Diamond realized what was happening, he walked over to the men and pulled out a pocketknife to defend his fiancée. The police were called and ‘Screech’ was arrested, along with his fiancée, Amanda. Diamond or ‘Screech’ was charged with second-degree recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct, and carrying a concealed weapon since he admitted he did have a pocketknife during the bar fight. Schutz was charged with disorderly conduct but she was released soon after.

According to People, Diamond’s lawyer had this to say:

Dustin doesn’t feel like he is being wronged. He gets that when something like this happens, the police get involved and the court figures it out. He says the Port Washington police have been nothing but exemplary. He gets it. He knows there is a process in this country and in the end he will be exonerated.

Diamond’s lawyer, Thomas Alberti asked the judge to reduce the bail since Diamond has no criminal history. Also, Schutz’s parents had this to say about their daughter’s soon to be husband:

Dustin has a gentle nature. He likes people to laugh. If he felt that Amanda was in danger, he would certainly protect her. Who wouldn’t protect a loved one?

Diamond is out of jail after he paid the $10,000 bond. He has a court date scheduled for Jan. 5.
