Dennis The Obese Dachshund Lost 44 Pounds

Obese Dachshund

The canine celebrity known as Dennis the obese dachshund, whose owners neglectfully fed pizza and burgers, has shed more than 75 percent of his body weight over the course of the last 24 months for a whopping total of 44 pounds lost.

His dramatic transformation comes as a result of a exercise and canine-friendly diet consisting of dry dog food instead human food.

The Colombus, Ohio woman who adopted the dog from her hoarder uncle and has since placed the little bugger on a strict diet and incorporated regular walks into his life. The woman, Brooke Burton, who’s currently a nursing student, was quoted by The Telegraph as having said that “you could tell he was very depressed” and “that he really didn’t feel good at all.”

Out comes Dennis, and I couldn’t believe it […] I wasn’t even sure what breed of dog he was supposed to be because he was so large. In the beginning, you could tell he was very depressed, that he really didn’t feel good at all. He didn’t have much of a personality. After he lost weight, this bossy little demanding man popped out. He’s into everything, he wants to play with everybody.

When 26-year-old Brooke first adopted the pet back in 2013, she claims he was dehydrated and afflicted with skin infections. Not only that, he could barely walk more than a few feet without having to stop to catch his breath and had so much additional body weight that he was literally tripping over his own rolls of fat.

These days, she claims he’s once again returned to a happy state.
