TheFind Shopping Engine Acquired By Facebook And Then Shutdown

Facebook Buys TheFind

Facebook announced its acquisition of the personalized shopping search engine known as TheFind in a move which TechCrunch reports to be aimed at improving the company’s commerce advertisements.

TheFind is a shopping search engine which aggregates products and their associated price tags from various online and local outlets in order to streamline the process of finding the best deals on products.

It’ll even indicate whether a price match is available or let you know when something you’re interested in goes on sale.The terms of the deal were not disclosed.The shopper oriented search engine is cross-platform available, which means it’s accessible via desktop web-browsers, smartphones and tablets.

According to the company’s website, its shopping index contains over 500 million products across 500 thousand stores which include the likes of such reputable names as Nordstrom and Best Buy.USA Today pointed out a note published on TheFind’s website which read:

We are now starting our next chapter by combining forces with Facebook to do even more for consumers […] Facebook’s resources and platform give us the opportunity to scale our expertise in product sourcing to the over 1 billion people that use the platform.

The shopping search engine launched back in 2006 with a straight forward concept, to improve the shopping experience by aggregating data from all of the stores across the Internet in an attempt to compile and compare all of the data, streamlining it for users based on their preferences.

According a statement issued by Mark Zuckerberg’s massive social network, the company is “excited to welcome TheFind to Facebook” and their “talented team” which “has built a successful search engine that connects people to products.”
