Microsoft released a couple of live-action Halo 5: Guardians advertisements today, one of which was aired during The Walking Dead tonight, and that the end of the new video advertisements, a release date became apparent: October 27, 2015.
In the variant aired on cable television tonight, Agent Locke from the Halo series can be seen walking through a human city which has been reduced to rubble by conflict. Locke walks through the city while seemingly addressing his commentary, in which he blames Master Chief for the destruction around him, towards a statue of his nemesis. Suddenly, it’s made apparent that at the base of the statue lies Master Chief himself and as Locke gets closer, he suddenly discards his rifle in favor of a sidearm which he removes from his holster and points at Chief.
After he aims his pistol at Chief, the Halo 5 logo appears accompanied by the game’s October release date.
The second advertisement, which can be seen below, is essentially the same series of events but with the roles reversed, as Chief approaches a wounded Locke and asks him if “it was all worth it.”

Halo, a first-person shooter created by Bungie and now managed and developed by 343 Industries, is a military science fiction video game series which first debut back in November of 2001 with the release of Halo: Combat Evolved. The latest title, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, was released on November 11, 2014.
The video game series is published by Microsoft Studios and ported to various platforms including Xbox, OS X, Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and even the Windows Phone.
