A tornado touched down in Quapaw, Oklahoma, a small town in Ottawa County with a population of just 906 in 2010, and left two dead in its wake.
The tornado was one of several spawned by a large storm front passing through the South and Midwest, NBC News reported.
No additional deaths as a result of the storms have been reported, however, the state Highway Patrol confirmed that there had been injuries but provided no other details.
Keli Cain, who is with the Oklahoma Emergency Management Agency, informed the Weather Channel that there was extensive damage incurred on the north side of town. She went onto say that the town’s fire station, among other buildings, had been destroyed.
