Andrew Getty Found Dead, Oil Heir’s Cause Of Death Released

Andrew Getty Dies

Andrew Rork Getty, an heir to the Getty Oil fortune, was reported dead on Tuesday by his girlfriend — whom he recently obtained a restraining order against.

Last year, Forbes estimated that the Getty family fortune has a net worth of $5 billion.

Police were called to the late Getty’s home at 2:18 p.m. by an unidentified woman who TMZ identified as his ex-girlfriend. Upon arriving at his compound, law enforcement discovered his corpse.

His death was confirmed by the Getty family — whose scandals include mutilations, kidnappings, excessive drug use, and death.

The 47-year-old Getty heir’s girlfriend allegedly discovered his lifeless body in the bathroom of his Los Angeles home, which is located in the Hollywood Hills.

According to a TMZ report, his former girlfriend was detained by law enforcement as a potential witness or suspect, however, The Kansas City Star indicated in a report that Police Cmdr. Andrew Smith had said that the woman who had called the police was cooperating with the investigation and police spokesman Jack Richter indicated that she had not been arrested; Richter also indicated that he did not know the woman’s identity.

The aforementioned Kansas City Star report quoted Los Angeles County coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter as having said that “the tentative information that we do have is that” Andrew was “not feeling good for the last couple months and he supposedly had an appointment tomorrow with a personal physician.”

Mr. Winter indicated that the cause of death appeared to be from natural causes, however, it was initially referred to as an accident due to the fact that medication had been found at the scene.

The Los Angeles Times indicated in a report that Getty had sought a restraining order against the woman just two weeks prior to his death.

The TMZ report also cited sources as having said that the couple had a history with the LAPD which involved 31 visits by local law enforcement to the residence in which Andrew died; mostly for domestic disturbances.

The celebrity gossip and entertainment news publisher’s sources also indicated that the recently deceased and his former girlfriend were frequently under the influence of drugs during law enforcement’s visits to the residence. The drugs discovered in the past by law enforcement were, according to TMZ, prescription drugs.

TMZ also reported that their sources had indicated to them that Andrew’s ex-girlfriend had allegedly broken into his home multiple times and that she’d been previously been placed under a 5150 psychiatric hold after she injured police officers responding to the residence in which Andrew was found dead.

Andrew’s grandfather, oil scion Jean Paul Getty, merged several smaller oil companies into Getty Oil back in the 1960s. At one point, he was one of the richest men in American. Jean Paul died on June 6, 1976.
